After serving in the military as a hospital corpsman and Army Field Medic until 1986 Jason DeLuisa, CNP enrolled in nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. “I have worked in many areas of healthcare. I graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in 2000 and owned an acupuncture clinic in New England for several years. In 2009 I graduated from the University of St. Francis’ Family Nurse Practitioner Program. I opened Oak Street Clinic in 2010 and it has grown to become a multi-provider holistic family practice clinic.”
Oak Street Clinic provides a wide range of services to its patients. “Along with my colleagues, we are able to provide primary healthcare to a wide variety of patients including children and adults,” DeLuisa says. “In addition to my training in Eastern Medicine, our acupuncturist, Dr. McDermott, DOM, is an expert in Traditional Chinese Medicine and provides acupuncture and herbal medicine to patients of all ages. We offer walk-in hours so our patients don’t have to go to the emergency room when they feel ill, psychotherapy, bio-identical hormone replacement, medical weight management and nutritional counseling. We also specialize in medical aesthetics including skin rejuvenation, Botox and filler treatment.”
Oak Street Clinic provides medical support for community events and sponsors community programs and also provides low cost health care for people who lack insurance. “In New Mexico I am fortunate to be able to practice independently as a Certified Nurse Practitioner,” DeLuisa says. “Nurse Practitioners are nurses with advanced training and clinical skills grounded in a nursing background. Nurses take a holistic approach to healthcare and focus on the family, wellness and health-promotion. With a background in bedside nursing, I am able to develop deeper and more meaningful relationships with my patient’s and this makes me more effective as their primary healthcare provider. Additionally, I am also trained as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and this gives an entirely different perspective on health and wellness.”
